Screen Recorder Pro ("we", "our", or "the extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your information.
Data We Collect
Screen Recorder Pro collects minimal data necessary for the extension to function:
- User Preferences: Settings like default recording source, audio options, and format preferences are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API.
- Recording Data: All recorded video and audio is processed and stored locally on your device. We never upload or access your recordings.
Data We Do NOT Collect
We do not collect, store, or transmit:
- Your recorded videos or audio
- Personal information (name, email, etc.)
- Browsing history or website data
- Analytics or usage tracking data
- Location information
- Any other personal data
Permissions Explained
Screen Recorder Pro requires certain browser permissions to function. Here's why we need each one:
- desktopCapture: Required to record your screen or specific windows
- tabCapture: Required to record individual browser tabs with their audio
- storage: Used to save your preferences locally in Chrome
- downloads: Required to save your recordings to your computer
- offscreen: Used for background processing of recordings
Data Storage
All data is stored locally on your device:
- Preferences: Stored in Chrome's local storage (chrome.storage.local)
- Recordings: Stored temporarily in your browser's memory during recording, then saved to your downloads folder
- Autosave data: Stored locally using IndexedDB for crash recovery
Third-Party Services
Screen Recorder Pro does not use any third-party services, analytics, or tracking tools. The extension operates entirely offline and locally.
Pro Features
If you upgrade to Pro features, payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store your payment information. Stripe's privacy policy governs their data handling.
Children's Privacy
Screen Recorder Pro does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The extension is intended for general audiences and does not require any account or personal information.
Your Rights
Since we don't collect personal data, there's nothing to delete or export. Your preferences are stored locally and can be cleared by:
- Uninstalling the extension
- Clearing your browser data
- Resetting extension settings in the options page
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy occasionally. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
