Screen Recorder Pro documentation

Everything you need to install, use, and master the extension. Most users are recording within 30 seconds - but the docs are here for when you want to go deeper.

Where to start

If you've never used the extension before, start with Install & first recording. Two minutes and you'll have a finished WebM on your disk.

If you already have it installed, jump to the section that matches what you're trying to do:

Recording modes

Screen, tab, area, camera - when to use each.

System audio

Capture sound from Chrome and your apps, cleanly.

MP4 / GIF export

Convert WebM to MP4 or GIF without uploading.

Keyboard shortcuts

Start, stop, pause - without leaving the keyboard.

License activation

Activate your Pro key in 30 seconds.

Troubleshooting

Fix permission prompts, double dialogs, and more.

The 60-second tour

Screen Recorder Pro is a Chrome extension. Once you've pinned it to your toolbar, here's the whole flow:

  1. Click the extension icon. The popup opens with four recording sources.
  2. Pick your source (screen, tab, area, or camera). Toggle microphone or system audio if you want them.
  3. Hit Record. A 3-second countdown gives you time to switch windows.
  4. A floating REC widget appears on every tab - pause, resume, or stop from anywhere.
  5. Click Stop. Your recording downloads automatically as a WebM. Pro users can convert to MP4 or GIF on the spot.
Pro tip: the area picker stays active mid-recording. Drag a frame around exactly the panel you want to show.

What's new in v1.0.52

  • In-popup license activation field (no more "where do I enter my key?")
  • Self-healing REC widget - stop button always works, even after Chrome puts the service worker to sleep
  • System audio modal redesigned and slimmed down
  • 9 new recording settings: bitrate, fps cap, resolution, filename template, auto-stop timer, indicator anchor, and more
