MP4 / GIF export

Convert any WebM recording to MP4 or GIF, locally, in seconds. No uploads. No quality loss you didn't ask for.

Pro feature. The converter is bundled with FFmpeg.wasm and runs entirely in your browser.

Convert from the history page

  1. Click the extension icon, then the history icon (clock) at the bottom-left of the popup.
  2. Find your recording.
  3. Click Convert -> MP4 or Convert -> GIF.
  4. The conversion runs locally. Short clips finish in 2-5 seconds; a 10-minute 1080p recording typically takes 30-60 seconds.

Why MP4?

WebM is smaller and higher quality at the same bitrate, but MP4 is universally supported. Use MP4 when uploading to platforms that reject WebM (some CMSes, older email clients, certain Slack workspaces).

Why GIF?

GIFs autoplay everywhere and embed in basically anything - bug reports, GitHub PRs, Slack messages, support tickets. Don't use them for anything over 10 seconds, the file sizes get out of hand fast.

Export quality

By default the converter preserves your recording's resolution and frame rate. For GIF, the default is 12fps at the recording's resolution to keep file size reasonable. You can override both in the converter UI.
