Settings reference
All the knobs, what they do, and what to set them to.
Open Settings from the popup (the gear icon in the top-right header) or from chrome-extension://<id>/options/index.html.
Recording
- Default source
- Which source button is selected when you open the popup. Default: Tab.
- Resolution
- Max recording resolution. 480p / 720p / 1080p / 1440p / 2160p (4K, Pro). Higher = larger files.
- Frame rate
- 15 / 24 / 30 / 60fps. 30 is the sweet spot for tutorials. 60 only matters for fast-moving content (gameplay, animation).
- Bitrate
- Auto / Low (2 Mbps) / Medium (5 Mbps) / High (10 Mbps) / Very High (20 Mbps). Auto adapts to your resolution and fps.
- Countdown duration
- Seconds before recording starts. 0 / 3 / 5 / 10. Default 3.
- Auto-stop after
- Stop recording after N minutes. Useful for unattended recordings. Off by default.
Audio
- Echo cancellation
- Removes echo from your mic. Default on. Turn off only if you're using a hardware audio interface.
- Noise suppression
- Suppresses background noise (keyboard, AC, fans). Default on. Can clip soft consonants - turn off for music or singing.
- Mic gain
- 25% - 200%. Default 100%. Boost if your voice is too quiet relative to system audio.
Camera
- Bubble shape
- Circle / Square / Rounded square.
- Bubble size
- Small (120px) / Medium (180px) / Large (240px).
- Mirror
- Flip the camera horizontally so it matches what you see in a mirror. On by default.
Interface
- Theme
- System / Light / Dark. Default follows your OS.
- Indicator anchor
- Where the floating REC widget sits. Top-left / top-right / bottom-left / bottom-right. Default bottom-right.
- Show cursor
- Include the mouse cursor in the recording. Default on.
Output
- Filename template
- Tokens:
{date},{time},{datetime},{source},{seq}. Default:recording-{datetime}. - Subfolder
- Saves into Downloads/<subfolder>/. Empty by default.
